Recipe: They’re always after me Utah lamb
Published Thursday February 1, 2007 by Dan
While reading one of my colleagues’ fascinating tell-alls on mercurialised-baby/faux-cereal stickers, I noticed an ad for David Hoffman’s “The Breakfast Cereal Gourmet”. I was moments from ordering the book when there was a sudden knock on my front door. ‘Twas the UPS guy I think, only he had a different uniform and he smelled like pizza and gave me a pizza. Anyway, I enjoyed my dinner and David Hoffman’s magnum opus melted from my memory like an ice sculpture in the shape of a pizza that is left too long in the hot summer sun.
The next day, in a brash move, the fates revealed themselves to me in the form of a serendipitous newsflash from Good Morning America. It seems they read CerealBlogger as well and must have spotted the same ad! They chose to provide a sample recipe from the book; David Jones’ “Lucky Charmed Utah Lamb”. The recipe is fairly complex, and includes directions for the Lucky Charms Marbits-infused balsamic syrup and a salad of baby spinach garnished with those delectable Lucky Charms Oatbits on the side. You might think the man a fool, to lay bare the most awesome culinary delight that his book has to offer. And you may be right. You should still buy the book however, because you know you have been dying to try a Sprinkle Spangles Martini*.
