Lego my GoLe

Today we are going to take a look at Kashi GoLean Crunch! (GLC from here on out). The first thing you will notice when you pour a bowl is the high variance in the size of the clusters. GLC consists of the classic Kashi blend of grains (oats, long grain brown rice, rye, hard red winter wheat, triticale, buckwheat, barley, sesame seeds) all clumped together, taking on the appearance of puffy granola. Some clusters are small, about the size of a kidney stone. There are a good deal of larger clusters as well however, ranging in size from a gall stone to a larger kidney stone.

Jaw Session

If you want to play a mean trick on someone, tell them to close their eyes and feed them a spoonful of GLC. Since they do not know what is happening inside their mouth, chances are they might accuse you of feeding them lightly sweetened sedimentary rocks. This trick is extra funny when used on those with false teeth. Plain and simple, GLC takes crunch retention to a whole new level. While most cereals tend to soften up after a little liquid lubrication, GLC just laughs at milk and then goes home and looks up priapism in the medical dictionary. My jaw physically hurt after eating a bowl of this stuff. It was however, a good hurt, not unlike the burn you might feel after an hour or so lifting heavy, weighty things.

No Pain, No Grain

Once you get past the mind boggling crunch, you will find a mildly sweet, hearty cereal. There is a distinct taste of cinnamon and honey, more natural than what you would find in a bowl of CTC. The classic Kashi blend of grains provides a complex flavor and it just plain tastes healthy. The End Milk is a simple, semi-sweet sugary blend that tastes best cold. In conclusion, if you like the texture of granola, but want to try something a bit lighter tasting, I can easily recommend Kashi GoLean Crunch! Those with sensitive gums might want to try a sample before delving in as the crunchy nuggets will surely mutilate you.
