Recipe: ‘Hot Face’ Chex Mix, for a memorable Super Bowl
Published Sunday February 4, 2007 by Elliot
If you are like most people then you have probably eaten Chex Mix at some point without realizing that you are actually eating cereal in a clever disguise. For a memorable Super Bowl party, place 2-3 bowls of Chex cereal in proximity to your television. Leave a carton of milk somewhere central and pelt your guests with plastic spoons as they arrive. That’ll teach ‘em! For less drastic measures try making our recently concocted ‘Hot Face’ Chex Mix.
‘HOT FACE’ CHEX MIX
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 tablespoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
3/4 tablespoon garlic powder
2 1/2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
3 cups Corn Chex
3 cups Wheat Chex
3 cups Rice Chex
1 cup cashews
Directions:
Heat oven to 250 degrees. In ungreased large roasting pan, mix cereals and cashews. In 1-quart saucepan, heat butter, seasoned salt, onion powder, worchestershire sauce, garlic powder and hot pepper sauce over medium heat, stirring frequently, until butter is melted and mixture is hot. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated. Bake uncovered 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight containers.
This recipe for Chex Mix serves 15-20 party people.
