Today’s Cereious Download is Chexquest. Chexquest was a computer game made in 1996. It was based on the DOOM engine and came as a prize in specially marked boxes of guess what….CHEX! You play as a Chex armored dude and try to eradicate Flemoids. Hmmm sounds awesome doesn’t it? When I heard about this game, I was mega excited to play it, maybe even more then this kid. So after searching online for a bit I finally found it here. I realized it was a DOS game so I fired up my pc and gave it a whirl. And boy o boy that did not work at all. It just spewed some junk and crashed. The problem is the old DOS games have no idea what to do with these fancy processors and crazy memories of today’s computers.

After some more researching I discovered a little thing called DOSBox. DOSBox is a free DOS emulator that runs on PC, MAC, and Linux! You can play all of your old favorite DOS games with it. So head over to here and find some of your favorites. I for one loved Secret Agent.

So once I had Chexquest running it was off to the races. And lets just say that this horse fell so short that Barbaro is rolling over in his grave. [ed: very topical!] It is exactly like DOOM in every way except for one……it is not good. You shoot these green things with your tazer-o-junk and they die, then you run out of tazer juice. Once you find more tazer juice repeat process. But hey who am I to judge, some people liked it so much that Chex released version two later on. Some fans even made a Chexquest 3. Even after that some fans did it all over again and ported the windows DOOM to make The Ultimate Chexquest.

So stop waiting for WoW to load and give Chexquest a try, I promise you will be disappointed.
